On March 16th 1945, the 362nd Fighter Group dispatched a total of 175 P-47 Thunderbolt fighters against enemy transportation associated facilities and ground artillery.
Attacking Viciously against intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire the Group destroyed or damaged 420 military transports, seven armored vehicles, locomotives, gun emplacements, road and railway installations.
Although close air support was the Group's primary function they managed to shoot down 137 German aircraft at the cost of 97 of their own pilots.
